Are you want to make your wordpress blog multi author, then you need to add new user or contributer into your wordpress blog. Here I am talking about how to add new user into your blog. There are many benefit to add more user or contributor in your blog.
How to add Users in wordpress admin
There are two ways to add users into your blog. Administrator of the blog can add to the blog by adding username, email Id, password for any particular person who want to contribute in your blog. The username and password send to user via Email, by wordpress. The end user can able to change their password but not the username. So be careful about choosing the Username.
And 2nd method is Administrator can give access to register anyone as a user in his/her blog. And finally admin of the blog approve them as a user and give access also assign particular role for them.
- Be careful when you choosing the role for user, I will talk about different type of role in other post, but for now do not assign administer role for any user. If you give the administer role to user, they can remove you form your blog.
Now I talk about both method in detail, how to add a user in your wordpress blog.
How Add another User by administrator
Go to WordPress Admin Dashboard -> Click on users -> again click on Add new. A new page will open . here you give the user name (not be change again) and give the email id of who want to add as a user and give a password.
Select the role for him as contributor or other you want. Don’t give administrator role. If you give him as administrator he can able to change your role. So be careful about selecting the role for users.
Mark the check box ‘Send this password to new user via email’.
Lastly Click on Add User. A mail will send by wordpress to maintained Email Id , after approval by that person, he can able to login and access your blog with define Role.
Administrator Give access to Register any one as user
Go To wordpress Admin Dashboard -> Click on Setting -> Select General, a new page will open like the below image. Here you fill all the information and give your the email ID for admin purpose and if a new user register to your blog, a email notification will come into your email.
If any Reader wants to contribute as a member to your blog they should register using the URL http://www.yoursitename.com/wp-register.php. Once they enter the URL in address bar the below screen will appear.
Here the reader can give their username and email address then click on register button. The notification sends to administrator. The password will send to his email if administrator enabled the option ‘anyone can register’. If admin didn’t enabled this option reader get 404 error
